A relationship can never assure health and happiness but love and sex are two facets of life that promise to send some essential health boosts to individuals. According to some scientific studies also, physical touch and sex have proved to be quite beneficial for the couples as they not only fill their heart with love and joy but also bring certain positive health benefits to them. Here is a list of health benefits for which sex is considered as one of crucial factors:

Sex makes your heart strong

A good heart is the result of sufficient exercising. And other than yoga, jogging, walking and gym; sex is also known as one of the effort involving exercise. When a person experiences sexual arousal, his or her heart rate goes higher and as a result, the number of beats per minute reaches its peak during orgasm. But then it really depends upon the energy levels and enthusiasm involved.

According to a number of studies, the average peak heart rate at orgasm is the same as during light exercise, such as walking upstairs but then that is not enough to stay fit and healthy. For adults, at least a two and half hours moderate-intensity aerobic activity or cycling or fast walking is necessary every week. And how lucky a person is if he gets the chance of having orgasms every week for the same time period!

At the same time, don’t give up if you are a heart patient. Unless an exercise or an activity put strain on your heart; it should not be stopped. Experts advise that as long as you feel comfortable doing everyday activities like walking up few stairs or an evening walk; you are allowed to have sex. It will not lay any kind of impact on your heart.

A tight and cosy hug is good for your mind and heart

In a recent research it has been proved by the medical teams that in comparison to couples who don’t hold hands for at least 10 minutes a day or rest without giving each other a warm hug, those who do so experience healthier reactions. They tend to have lower blood pressure and their subsequent reaction towards stress is much better. In fact, such people feel more confident while public speaking. So in a nut shell, a simple feel shared among couple brings them with:

  • Lower heart rate
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Confidence
  • Smaller heart rate increases

So if you also wish your partner a healthy heart and blood pressure then don’t forget to give him or her hug every day.

Let’s talk about sex as a stress buster

Sex is known as one of the best stress busters. When you come back home experiencing a high workload throughout the day; a simple gesture of love tends to bring you soothe and comfort. So imagine what wonders sex would bring along when it involves so much love and warmth. According to a recent study also, sex serves as the best medicine to beat the stresses of 21st century living.

To confirm this fact, around 50 men and women were surveyed and all of them were asked to maintain a diary of their sexual activities, their penetrative sex, non-penetrative sex and masturbation. While checking their levels of stress, how good they are in public speaking and are they capable of doing mental arithmetic out loud or not, doctors found that people who had no sex at all during the survey period had the highest levels of stress.

On the other hand, people who had just the penetrative sex had the smallest rise in their blood pressure as it helped them cope a little better with their stress. Many people consider intimacy or orgasm without penetration quite beneficial to feel relaxed, as it is in the case of exercise or meditation. But for their knowledge it has nothing to do with penetrative sex only; whatever works for you could be considered as the best source of stress buster.

In has been also proved that after having penile-vaginal intercourse, the blood pressure reactivity to stress is quite high.

Weekly sex might help fend off illness

Excess of everything is bad. This phrase does well in case of sexual behaviour as well. In a recent study, a link has proved between sex frequency and its effect over immune system. It says that sex done only once or maximum twice a week helps in strengthening the immune system. People who don’t have sex at all during a week or have sex more than twice a week are found with low levels of an important illness-fighting substance in their bodies called as Immunoglobulin A (IgA). People doing sex once or twice a week were found with 30% higher IgA. Well, this fact needs more research to be confirmed.

Sex and Health

There has been developed an inter-reverse relation between sex and health. It is well known that only healthy people tend to have sex but then another fact is that sexual activity helps in strengthening the health well being of people.

A study was conducted over 3,000 Americans all aged 57-85 and it was found that those who were still having sex had higher rates of healthy lifestyle than those who weren’t  And its not just sex, even love makes a lot of difference.

People who were involved in a close relationship or were married to each other were more likely to experience an excellent health whereas others claimed it to be just ‘good’ or ‘poor’. In a nutshell, it was proved that emotional and social support plays a vital role in boosting the sense of well being.

Love is effective in reducing the Risk of angina and ulcer

If you are into a happy marriage then you are more likely to fend off angina and stomach ulcer; especially if you are a male. A study was carried over 10,000 men and all those among the group who were found blessed with a lovable and supporting spouse were found to be at a lower risk of angina. This was the case even if they were found to be at an older age or suffering from high blood pressure.

Similarly, another study was carried over a group of 8,000 men and it was found that following men are at a higher risk of suffering from a duodenal ulcer:

  • Men who have family problems
  • Men who don’t get the love and support of their wife
  • Men who don’t react when their colleagues hurt them
  • Stress, lack of social support and coping style are more likely to develop an ulcer
